The EHAP certification indicates the holder is qualified and competent to identify electrical hazards and undertake the necessary safety precautions as applied to arboricultural operations. EHAP certified personnel are trained to identify the different electrical transmission lines and estimate their voltage, and are skilled at assessing the probability of phase-to-phase and phase-to-ground (tree) faults so as not to place themselves or the electrical grid at risk. The applicant must also pass a written examination and perform a simulated aerial rescue.
